I am often asked about my early life, the influences and triggers of becoming a painter. The top three rows show a few surviving pieces starting with a landscape I painted in my mid teens and other work from my schooldays and my early 20's. There followed a period of about 20 years, most of which I was living and working in London, when I barely picked up a paintbrush. On moving to Suffolk I was able to reconnect with painting and drawing by which I mean allowing myself the time to work and develop, for some years producing figurative pieces (as in the paintings below).
